Custom mutant population creation
BenchBio is well equipped to create mutant populations of various sizes. The company recommends a minimum of 3000 M1 plants, but the greater the population, the higher the success of recovering more alleles. BenchBio is routinely generating mutant populations of 1000-5000 M1 plants. Mutant populations of 5000 to 10,000 M1 plants or more can be accommodated. Please contact BenchBio for mutant population greater than 20,000 M1 plants. In all cases the Client has full rights over the population and material is 100% secure.
Phenotyping and seed management
BenchBio will undertake a systematic phentoyping of the M2 plants and produce M3 seeds. Plant corresponding to each M1 plant will be scored for a list of phenotypes agreed on with the client and the data will be loaded into a user friendly database. Clients will be provided with the seeds stocks as well as the database. Training on the use of the database will be provided. Please contact us with your requirements.
BenchBio will carry on systematic screening of the mutant population for new alleles using the ADP sytem. We will also provide the sequence of the alleles as well as information about the impact of the mutation on the function of the protein to facilitate further characterization. Crossing and mutant characterisation
BenchBio undertakes crossing and mutant characterization and allele introgression in the favourite genetic background. We will compare the impact of the alleles on the phenotype of the plant to identify the leader alleles. We will also carry on identification of alleles from germplasm collections and compare them to the alleles identified in the mutant population. Client’s will be provided with the complete information. A range of physiological and biochemical measurements can also be undertaken on the mutants. Please contact us with your requirements
